Salesforce LinkedIn Integration: How to Get LinkedIn Engagement Into Salesforce

Short answer: LinkedIn's Sales Navigator for Salesforce shows LinkedIn profiles inside Salesforce and, on Sales Navigator Advanced Plus, writes your reps' InMails, messages, notes and calls back to the matched record. It doesn't log who viewed your team's LinkedIn profiles, who liked or commented on their posts, or who followed your company page. Teamfluence's Salesforce integration does: every qualified person lands on a Salesforce Contact with their LinkedIn source event, engagement score and engagement count, and the company lands on the Account.

What does Salesforce's LinkedIn integration do?

The main way to connect LinkedIn and Salesforce is LinkedIn's own app, Sales Navigator for Salesforce. It does two things:

  • Embedded profiles. A Sales Navigator panel on Salesforce records, so reps see the person's LinkedIn profile without leaving the CRM. Needs Sales Navigator Advanced or Advanced Plus.
  • CRM Sync and Activity Writeback. Writes selected Sales Navigator activity (InMails, messages, notes, calls) back to the matched Account, Contact or Lead. Needs Sales Navigator Advanced Plus, a Salesforce admin to install it, and a Salesforce edition with API access: Enterprise, Unlimited, Developer, Performance, or Professional with API access enabled. (LinkedIn: Sales Navigator and your CRM, LinkedIn: SFDC Sync & Activity Write Back)

Look at what gets written back: activity your reps send. That's useful for reporting. It doesn't tell you who's paying attention to your team.

What does Salesforce miss?

The buyer who looks at three of your reps' profiles, likes your VP's post and follows your company page leaves nothing in Salesforce. No task, no note, no field. If they're already a Contact, the record looks the same as it did last quarter. If they're not, they don't exist.

Those are the people who already know you. They're the easiest to start a conversation with, and the hardest to see, because the engagement happens on your team's personal LinkedIn profiles.

LinkedIn activity Sales Navigator for Salesforce Teamfluence + Salesforce
Profile data on the record Yes (embedded profile) Yes (title, location, company on the Contact)
InMails and messages your reps send Yes (Advanced Plus writeback) No, use Sales Navigator for this
Someone viewed a rep's profile No Yes
Someone liked or commented on a team member's post No Yes
Someone followed or visited your company page No Yes
New connection accepted No Yes
One list across the whole team No Yes

The two work side by side: Sales Navigator logs what your team does, Teamfluence logs what buyers do back.

What lands in Salesforce?

Every time your team or the AI agent qualifies someone, Teamfluence pushes them to Salesforce as a Contact, and their company to the related Account. Before creating anything, it checks for an existing record by LinkedIn URL, name and email.

On the Contact, the integration adds its own fields:

Field What it holds
Teamfluence Lead Source The LinkedIn event that brought them in: profile view, post reaction, post comment, company page follower, company page visitor, new connection, accepted connection campaign, and more
Teamfluence Engagement Score A score based on the number and type of interactions with your company
Teamfluence Engagement Events Count How many engagement events we've collected for this person
Teamfluence ICP Match Checked if the AI agent qualified them against your ICP
Teamfluence Account-Based Checked if they work at a company on your target account list
Teamfluence Connection Strength How many of your team members they're connected to
Teamfluence Lead Tags The tags on the person in Teamfluence
Teamfluence URL A link to their full lead details in Teamfluence

Standard fields get filled too: name, email, phone, title, location and country on the Contact; name, website, description, phone, founded year, headquarters and employee count on the Account. Their LinkedIn engagement history (profile views, content engagement) goes onto the record's activity.

You can add the Teamfluence fields to your Contact page layout so reps see them without clicking around.

How do I set it up?

  1. Connect. In Teamfluence, go to Settings, Integrations, and pick Salesforce. You need an administrator role in Salesforce to authorise it.
  2. Configure. Choose a default Lead Source value. If you already store LinkedIn URLs or handles on Contacts, point the integration at those fields so it matches existing people.
  3. Add the fields to your layout. Setup, Object Manager, Contact, Page Layouts, then drag the Teamfluence fields in.

If you already use another CRM integration, the one you connect last becomes the main destination for new people.

Which LinkedIn engagers should go to Salesforce?

Not all of them. Someone from a recruiting firm liking a post isn't pipeline, and a Contact list full of them makes reps stop trusting the data.

Two filters do most of the work. The ICP Match and Account-Based checkboxes let you build Salesforce list views and reports on only the qualified ones. And Engagement Events Count lets you set a threshold: a good place to start is people with 3 to 5 engagements, which is what a buyer suggested on one of our calls last week.

FAQ

Do I need Sales Navigator for this? No. Teamfluence's Salesforce integration doesn't use Sales Navigator. Sales Navigator's own writeback needs Advanced Plus.

Does it create Leads or Contacts? Contacts, with the company on the Account.

Will it duplicate my existing Contacts? It checks LinkedIn URL, name and email first. If you already keep LinkedIn URLs on Contacts, map that field in the settings: it makes matching more reliable.

Can I report on LinkedIn engagement in Salesforce? Yes. The Teamfluence fields are normal Contact fields, so you can filter list views and build reports on lead source, engagement score or ICP match.

Is there a HubSpot version? Yes. See HubSpot LinkedIn integration: how to get LinkedIn engagement into HubSpot.
